Eating, hunting wild animals banned in Wuhan

Wuhan authorities have banned eating and hunting wild animals – declaring the city a “wildlife sanctuary” – months after its diseased wet markets became the chief suspect of triggering the COVID-19 pandemic.

Numerous reports point to a city government announcement of the changes which came after China adopted a decision in February “thoroughly banning illegal wildlife trade and eliminating consumption of wild animals to safeguard people's lives and health”.
